Conflict Coaching
Conflict coaching utilizes a set of skills and strategies used to support peoples’ ability to engage in, manage, or productively resolve conflict. In this process, the conflict coach works one-on-one with an individual experiencing conflict with another person. Conflict coaching enables the individual to talk about the conflict with a neutral third party, consider options for managing the conflict, and design an approach to discuss the conflict with the other person. Conflict coaching can be used as a stand-alone process or can be practiced with each of the parties in separate meetings during mediation. Conflict coaching is a highly practical approach to assist others in resolving their personal and professional conflicts, resulting in saved time and costs. Conflict coaching can be applied in all settings, such as community and family contexts.
Conflict Coaching uses a solution focused conversational framework to help to successfully navigate the conflict. It helps to be sustainable solutions, strengthens skills, develops capacity, and champions solutions. Themes of anger and emotions are addressed especially when the stakes and emotions are high.
